Selection de Grains Nobles Gewurztraminer, Alsace AOC 2001
Today led by the dynamic Etienne Hugel, this prominent Alsace company was founded almost 400 years ago. Those 100+ years old wine casks that were crafted by the forefathers of the Hugle family could still be seen under their ancient cellars. The company has always maintained its family character and focus on quality, promoted especially after World War II by the late, charismatic Jean ‘Johnny’ Hugel, who played a pivotal role in establishing Alsace wines as some of the finest in the world. Hugel & Fils is a member of the elite international “Primum Familiae Vini” (First Family of Wine) Group. “Hugel’s Tradition range can be excitingly full and the Jubilee range masterful. The Hugel family also pioneered the resurrection of Alsace’s late harvest wines and were instrumental in drawing up the rigorous requirements for these Vendange Tardive and Sélection de Grains Nobles wines. They are arch exponents of these styles themselves.” – Jancis Robinson
