Burgundy
Size: Bottle

"Domaine de Courcel is Côte de Beaune's equivalent to Domaine de la Romanee Conti in Côte de Nuits" – Guide Bettane & Desseauve

$1,250

Tasting Notes

Gorgeous ripe fruit of great finesse and energy. Lots of spice, too, and fresh, melting tannins that build towards the finish, which is a delicious mix of sweet fruit and mineral flavours. Real power and considerable elegance.

DOM. DE COURCEL
Although it has been flying a bit under the radar, Domaine de Courcel has a track record every bit as impressive as the other stars of Pommard (e.g. Comte Armand and Michel Gaunoux). In fact, Courcel has shown a remarkable consistency in turning out top scoring Pommards even in tricky vintages. The reason is that regisseur Yves Confuron is a man who does not believe in shortcuts: Hard work in the vineyards is always necessary to bring in pure and ripe fruit. Pommard wines are usually big and brawny, but Courcel’s 1er Cru bottlings add an extra layer of earthy, gamey fruit over a sinewy tannic structure that will reward the patient. No wonder Courcel is a regular favorite among Pinot fanatics and Burghound subscribers. (www.burghound.com)
