One of Spain's most inspiring red wines made in an isolated do zone in Cataluña inland from Tarragona
Cami de Pesseroles, Priorat DO 2012
"60% of the fruit is from centenarian Carignan vines; 40% is Grenache. Marked on the nose by a note of rubbery reduction. Dry and firm on the palate but juicy too. Dry, mineral tannins but not in the least astringent. Really stony on the long finish. Precision, finesse and so Priorat." Julia Harding MW
Jose Luis Perez and his family established themselves in the Priorat in 1981 and, along with René Barbier senior, Carles Pastrana (Clos de l'Obac), Dafne Glorian (Clos Erasmus) and Álvaro Palacios (L’Ermita). The estate owns 10 hectares of vineyard planted in the famous llicorella soil that gives the DO its distinctive character.
